Yeah, were money no object the reality is that the travel itself is a big impact on training. I like racing a lot and think with a 3 week gap you can race hard before an Ironman and be fine. I wouldn't consider the racing you did to be significant in a poorer A race, but certainly travel interrupting training is an issue.

That said I'm always tempted by just another race. I'm debating the UK 70.3 having had a similar result to you there the year before, but then wedged in between Lanza and Roth? Is that pushing too hard? And realistically I'd be better just training in prep for Roth I suspect.

I've heard it's cold back home... Next time it's a bit overcast here or looks like rain I'll remind myself it could be below 20 too!

hi mate

you've hit the nail firmly on the head re travelling to races. in the build up to Germany we did Vancouver four weeks out and UK70.3 three weeks out. I think at the time, and also after IMDE for that matter, people thought that was too much racing. Although I still strongly disagree with that, I do think it was too much travelling... which may well have contributed to a less than stellar A race.

anyway, all sounds great... just like the UK... if you divide your daytime temp by a factor of ten that is!!!

train safe ;)
