I'm tempted to post a comment saying, "Eat, you idiot," but it sounds as if you've figured that one out ;-)

Good luck for the big race,

Hi mate,

Really interesting post, it is really difficult to get the nutritional 'formula' right... the problem being that when you're training so hard refueling is crucial yet if you also need to get down to race weight it's a really fine balance. Training for my first Ironman with a purely 'completion' goal I ate like a horse 24/7 which got me all the way through without any injury or illness and full of energy, however I was also about 74 kilos compared to the 64 that I raced Germany at... 10kgs of exccess baggage has to make for a serious time penalty! The flip side being that in training for Germany I managed to empty my legs of carbs on more than one occasion and never quite got hold of the bike all year.

The bottom line? Living on the edge is great, but it's a very narrow line and by definition you'll sometimes step over it... if you don't then you're not really living ;)

I'm sure come Ironman time you'll be 100%,
