Considered, but have to admit to not quite having the nerve to try. I do wonder how well it would work.

I've been finding on the bike at least the pattern is general I can get 2 or 3 days of good riding with a lot of hard work in. Then I need a day off the bike or I'll have a weaker ride and not be able to put out quite the same effort. So I wonder if timed right potentially the race could be placed on a stronger day after short rest.

Not so sure with the running. The extra work on the bike has made it much harder to run as I have been. Will be interesting to enter a race with as low a run CTL as I have. Actually the numbers I'm going into this race with are unlike any of the previous five. So a bit of an experiment all round.

With Epic Camp only a few weeks after this race I'm aiming to recover quickly and get in some weeks based on high mileage and lower intensity. Hopefully go into a two week training camp relatively fresh, but at high fitness levels. Then after that the aim is to replicate the hard work approach of this build for Ironman New Zealand. Building straight through this one could have been an interesting approach to NZ. If I get a Kona slot soon enough I may get an opportunity to try.

Russ, did you not consider not tapering at all for this one and just continuing to build through?
